How do you keep the polymer so clean before you bake it? I have to knead the stuff so much and lint gets all over them even though I wash my hands thoroughly. >< Do you use latex gloves?

Nope, though it may depend on what kind of surface you work on, what you're wearing, and if you have animals around.

I work on a couple of untextured floor tiles. They wash easily and they're durable.

Best thing is to just keep a clean workspace.
